The types of tasks I enjoy the most are when I’m collaborating with clients to achieve great outcomes, the best feeling is getting a resource consent granted with minimal further requests of information from council.

One thing that drew me to applying for the graduate programme at Contact is that they offer specialised work in some very unique places. For me, the ability to live in Central Otago on the Clutha River comes with the benefits of skiing, biking, surfing, hiking, all in some very sweet scenery. 

Given the end result of a deal can be life-changing financially for our clients, it is incredibly rewarding to help contribute towards that end goal, where they are able to realise the value of the result of years of their sacrifices, investment and hard work!

I applied to a program called Tuputoa which offers Māori and Pacific Island students internships in the summer which landed me an interview with Deloitte. Since then, I received an offer as a graduate and have now been at Deloitte for 6 months and am loving every second of it.

Some of the most important skills are being able to get on with people, a hunger to learn and being open to new experiences.
